One of the lowest cost domain registrars in the world. Our prices are as low as many resellers, but we don't require joining fees or prepays. Unlike many registrars, we have direct connections to the ccTLD registries (CN, UK, EU, etc). Thus we can offer lower prices, faster registrations and quicker updates for ccTLDs.

Well done Dynadot. You rock. D.S. After first attempting to register at Joker and realizing I was misled on the price at checkout I then tried to register at *******. Low Priced, no hidden anything, effortlessly easy interface, and accepted a paypal payment with no automatic renewal BS. Kudos for a perfecst experience. email account

Moreover, if you read the terms of the proxy, there is typically no requirement that the proxy companies give you notice before releasing your information to the public. This painful reality has been detailed in the CNet.com news article Private Domains Not So Private , published August 15, 2005, at http://news.com/Private+domains+not+so+private/2100-1038_3-5833663.html. email software

Besides, proxy services do not technically provide anonymity, but pseudonymity, in that the intermediate entity knows the end-user s identity, but publishes its own information in the Whois database instead. Thomas Roessler, a member of ICANN s Whois Task Force 2, has acknowledged this very fact in writing. (See Roessler at http://does-not-exist.org/proxies.html.) antispam software

Roessler also summarizes the position of ICANN s At-Large Advisory Committee as follows: the chief problem with these masking services is that they may unmask their users on slight provocation. This means it doesn t take much before the proxy service providers will cancel your privacy service. fight spam

So, do you still think that proxy registration services will keep your identity completely anonymous Think again, because they have every incentive to publicly reveal your name and contact information at the first sign of trouble. But, what is this legal liability that they are worried about If the customer owns the domain, what liability does the proxy company face Keep reading for the answer stoping spam

Who REALLY owns the domain name

Don t be fooled. Proxy registrations do nothing more than give you the right to use the domain name, called a license. You do not legally own the domain! Look carefully at their proxy agreements. These agreements are deceptively crafted to state that, while you retain the full benefits of domain registration, the proxy provider remains the actual registrant of the domain. In fact, until more recently, Domains-By-Proxy s website previously stated: Your domain is registered in our name, which means Domains By Proxy takes ownership of it. (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/archive/thread/73682-1.html.) They have since revised their website to remove the ownership language, probably because it made too many customers anxious. block spam

Again, ICANN s policy as it currently stands does not recognize the licensee (aka you) as the owner of record. Remember, section 3.7.7.3 of the RAA clearly states: 3.7.7.3 Any Registered Name Holder that intends to license use of a domain name to a third party is nonetheless the Registered Name Holder of record (See RAA at http://www.icann.org/registrars/ra-agreement-17may01.htm. (emphasis ours)) spam emails

In short, proxy or anonymous services that offer to hide your name are simply complicated ways of saying, You don t own it we do! It s a lot like leasing a car; you can fix it, refuel it, and drive it wherever and whenever you want, but you don t own it. So, how well do you trust the proxy company to give the domain back to you when you want to transfer the domain somewhere else email account

Why does this ownership issue matter to you, the customer Well, if the proxy companies are (legally speaking) the recognized registered name holder, then they carry the burden of any civil or criminal liability for all activities associated with the domain name. If you do something bad with your domain name, the person who will get sued or criminally prosecuted is whoever is listed as the registered name holder. That s why the proxy companies are so eager to cancel privacy and publicize your precious contact information to the world. They figure, if they re no longer listed as the registered name holder, they can t be sued or criminally prosecuted. Translation: Proxy companies have every incentive to cancel your privacy service at the first sign of trouble. Remember, they want your money, not your baggage. sending email

How does Dynadot s Privacy Service work

Dynadot s Domain Privacy Service operates like a forwarding service. We simply insert our own company s address, email, and customer service telephone number in place of your own information in the Whois lookup directory. But, we do not replace your name. When we receive mail or email addressed to you, we filter it for spam and bulk junk mail. Then, we forward legitimate first-class mail and emails to you. This ensures that you only get the important stuff, and not the spam. Our service also protects your privacy in that spammers, stalkers, harassers, data miners, and identity thieves can t get to you without getting past Dynadot s watchful eyes. reading email

So, not only do spammers fail in contacting you (because we throw out their junk), but you can be assured of receiving important communications about your domain name, such as renewal notices from us and legitimate inquiries from third parties who don t know your real contact information. storing email

4. What is spam Spam is email that is both unsolicited and in bulk. Unsolicited means that the recipient has not granted permission for the message to be sent. Bulk means that the same message has been sent to many people usually all at once. An email that is unsolicited but not sent in bulk is fine, such as asking about a product before buying it. An email that is sent in bulk but not unsolicited is fine, such as sending a newsletter. But sending an email that is both unsolicited and in bulk is spamming. email software

5. What is your Spam Policy Dynadot does not allow its services to be used for the transmission of spam. If we receive any complaints about your domain being used to send spam, we will promptly start an investigation. First, you will receive an email warning from us notifying you that we have received a spam complaint for your domain(s), and asking you to stop sending spam. If you choose to ignore our warning, and continue to send spam, we will deactivate your domain or disable your entire Dynadot account. (This depends on the severity of the situation.) You will no longer be able to control the name servers for your domain(s), and instead a Dynadot domain cancelled for spam abuse page will appear in its place. You will not receive a refund or credit. antispam software

To report a domain that has sent spam, please submit a Spam Complaint. 6. Someone stole my Dynadot account! How can I get it back If this is the first time that this has happened to you, we will make a one time exception and help you get your Dynadot account back once you have proven that you are indeed the true account owner. In regards to any subsequent account break-ins, we cannot help you get your account back since you and you alone are responsible for the security of the account. Dynadot has invested a good amount of effort into maintaining the security of our system. It is the sole responsibility of the creator of the account to keep his account safe and secure. This is clearly stated in our Service Agreement under Part 1, Section 6, Account Security. fight spam

We urge you to choose a password with a healthy mixture of numbers and letters and change it often to keep your account safe and secure to avoid any account break-ins. 7. One of your customers is violating my copyright. Will Dynadot help me Dynadot respects the intellectual property rights of others, and is committed to protecting such rights where they exist. If you believe your copyright or other intellectual property right is being violated by one of our customers, please submit a Copyright Complaint here. Be sure to forward us any evidence or proof of infringement so that we may better serve you. We will initiate an investigation, and take action where we find conclusive proof of infringement. Please be aware that in some cases we may require you to provide us with a court order or administrative order before we are able to assist you. We reserve the right to take no action on copyright complaints without the backing of an order issued by a court of law or an administrative body. stoping spam

You may also obtain resolution by contacting the domain or website owner directly, and demanding that he cease and desist. You can find out who the owner is by using our Whois Lookup. We encourage all complainants to utilize this approach before submitting a formal Copyright Complaint to Dynadot. block spam

8. I am a Dynadot customer, but a third party told you that I am violating their copyright. What can I do to defend myself If a third party submits to Dynadot a Copyright Complaint against your domain, we will send you an email notification of such receipt. If you receive email notification of a Copyright Complaint and investigation, you may dispute the claim of infringement. One of the things we may ask from you is that you submit to us a Counter-Verification, which is your signature-certified declaration refuting the contents of the Copyright Complaint. spam emails

9. What is a Counter-Verification A Counter-Verification is a signed and certified document that you submit to us in order to dispute a Copyright Complaint that a third party has lodged against you. By submitting a Counter-Verification, you are certifying under penalty of perjury any facts and/or evidence that refute the claims of copyright infringement regarding your domain name and/or website. A Counter-Verification must include all of the following: email account

- Your full name (first, middle, last). - Your address (physical address, not a PO Box or mail service). - Your telephone number, including country code if not the United States. - Your fax number, if you have one (optional). - Your email address. - A submission of documents, evidence, and/or an explanation to negate the copyright infringement claim made against you. - Your declaration that it is your good faith belief that the use of the material complained of is authorized by the copyright holder (aka the complainant), or otherwise permitted under the law, or that the complainant does not have a legally enforceable copyright claim. sending email

Tip #6: Look for the Transfer has been Initiated Email. This is the email that tells you that your domain transfer has actually started and will complete, at the latest, 6 days after the day the email was sent. At this point, all you need to do is monitor your email to see if either registrar sends you an email indicating something went wrong with the transfer. Sometimes the losing registrar asks for a last email confirmation before approving a transfer. While you could ignore that email and choose to wait for the 6 days to pass, it s best to follow the steps in that email to help finish transfer quickly. reading email

Ready to transfer a domain to Dynadot Submit a domain transfer order. Additional information:

- Different central registries may have different transfer periods and/or rules. Try to find out about them ahead of time. You may also want to see our Service Agreement for more information about the various domain extensions we support. - UK transfers are different from other domain transfers. They involve changing the ID of the domain registrar for that UK domain. More information about UK transfers can be found in our Help section. storing email

- WS domains cannot be transferred to another domain registrar. For some reason, the WS central registry simply does not allow domain transfers. So be careful where you register them! Enter Keywords: Conflict of Interest Dynadot Staff Writer 2006/8/19 After the domain name industry was deregulated, the number of domain name registrars jumped higher, and domain name prices started falling. There is an alternative: just query the central registry s whois server directly to see if a domain name is in use. *nix users have a Whois client included with the OS, which allows command-line enquiries like whois example.com Windows users aren t quite as fortunate, but utilities such as http://www.softnik.com/download s Domain Name Analyser can be downloaded and used for free. Depending which top-level domain you re looking for, the domain registry (not just the registrar) may also offer a web-based whois . For instance, .org s central registry is http://pir.org/Search/WhoisSearchResults.aspx and .info is http://www.afilias.info/whois_search fight spam

For individual country codes, often a country code .xx will have nic.xx (or some variant such as register.xx) as the central registry s site. The master list of individual country-code registries is on http://www.iana.org/root-whois stoping spam
